Decentralization of the Real World in NYC

Our co-founder, Alex, attended the "Decentralization of the Real World" seminar, hosted by Unruly Capital and Newlab in vibrant Brooklyn, NYC. And let us tell you, it was nothing short of mind-blowing! We were very happy to see action on this topic.

As a metal 3D-printing startup, we have been speaking about the power of additive to really and truly decentralize manufacturing as a way to increase the resilience of our supply chains and take power away from concentration of manufacturing power. Here's a sneak peek into some of the key takeaways and insights that got us buzzing:

Additive Manufacturing - The Game Changer: At the heart of the conversation was the role of additive manufacturing (AM) in decentralizing production. We delved into how AM has the power to disrupt traditional manufacturing methods, making production more agile, cost-effective, and geographically distributed.

Supply Chain Resilience: In a world where supply chain disruptions have become all too common, the need for resilience is paramount. We explored how decentralized manufacturing, fueled by technologies like 3D printing, can bolster supply chain resilience by reducing dependency on centralized manufacturing hubs and minimizing logistical bottlenecks.

The Manifesto of Stefano Bernardi: Stefano Bernardi's manifesto struck a chord with our vision for the future. His ideas echoed our belief in the transformative potential of AM and decentralized manufacturing, reinforcing our commitment to driving innovation in this space.

Hybrid Supply Chains and End-of-Life Solutions: The seminar also shed light on the concept of hybrid supply chains and the critical role of AM in end-of-life solutions. While the discussions with Edward Davis initially centered around automotive applications, we couldn't help but draw parallels to the aviation sector, where similar challenges and opportunities abound.

DARPA's Perspective: Having someone from DARPA in attendance added an extra layer of excitement to the event. We were particularly intrigued by Andrew Detor's insights into current research areas in metal 3D-printing, sparking ideas for potential collaborations and pushing the boundaries of what's possible.

As we reflect on the stimulating conversations and connections made, we're more determined than ever to continue our journey towards redefining the manufacturing landscape. Stay tuned and if you want to be part of the conversation, reach out to us at alex@3dktech.com
