HKUST Reception: Scoring 20 Awards at the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has achieved remarkable success at the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, winning a total of 20 awards. All 19 teams, including 3DK Tech, on the delegation showcased their outstanding innovations, securing accolades such as the Prize of the Chinese Delegation for Invention and Innovation, Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury, Gold Medals, Silver Medals, and Bronze Medals.

One of the highlights was the groundbreaking research on protein biomarker panels for assessing Alzheimer's disease (AD) led by HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP. This innovation not only won the Prize of the Chinese Delegation for Invention and Innovation but also received a Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury. The biomarker-based detection system can identify AD years before symptoms appear by monitoring changes in blood biomarker levels.

Other notable winners from HKUST included advanced polymer-based therapeutics for chronic disease led by Prof. CHAU Ying from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, as well as metal 3D printing by ultrasonic excitation and active temperature control led by Emeritus Prof. Matthew YUEN Ming-Fai from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

This year marked HKUST's first institutional participation in this prestigious international exhibition, with a record high of 19 projects spanning various fields such as cell therapy, histological imaging, nanomembrane materials, and 3D printing. Notably, four inventions in the water treatment domain were developed in collaboration with the Drainage Services Department (DSD) of the HKSAR Government, addressing key challenges related to odor control, solid-liquid separation, and pipeline monitoring.

3DK Tech had the honor of attending a prestigious reception hosted by HKUST to celebrate the Geneva Awards. It was an incredible privilege to have our company recognized among the brightest innovators and trailblazers in the industry.
