3DK Tech Ventures into the Big Apple

Picture this: a seed-stage startup, venturing into uncharted territory, making its debut in the USA and cautiously navigating the bustling landscape of NYC's Hardware tech scene. Terrifying but thrilling nonetheless. While the enormity of the challenge looms large and uncertainty hangs in the air, there's a quiet excitement in embracing this journey ahead, knowing that every step taken is a chance to learn, grow, and contribute to the vibrant tapestry of innovation.

3DK Tech set out to explore and expand our network in the bustling city of New York. Our recent participation in key events has not only deepened our connections but also enriched our understanding of the hardware industry landscape. Let’s have a look.

Additive Manufacturing Strategies 2024: Seeds of Growth in the Concrete Jungle

This February already marked a pivotal moment in our journey to commercialization. With eager anticipation, we immersed ourselves in the energy of a 100% in-person event, surrounded by the industry's top movers and shakers. The conference was not just an event; it was a touchstone where mere ideas met the reality of taking our product to market. From insightful sessions on growth, deployment, and investment strategies to the unique opportunity of a Bavarian Beer and Pretzels Reception, every moment fuelled our aspirations.

The discussions provided valuable insights into the current dynamics of the metal 3D printing market, shedding light on both its strengths and challenges. The deceleration in venture capital investments within this sector, coupled with the industry's quest for innovations to streamline or eliminate post-processing requirements, underscored a palpable demand for novel approaches. It became evident that the industry is at a juncture where fresh business models and technologies are crucial to bridge the gap between prototyping and large-scale production.

From our perspective, these observations validate the significance of the problem we aimed to address with our solution – the need for serial production 3D printing. The alignment of our focus with the industry's current concerns positions our solution as not only relevant but also potentially transformative. The recognition of this alignment signals a promising opportunity for our solution to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing growth of the metal 3D printing landscape.

NY Hardware Meetup: Nurturing Connections in the Big Apple

In the midst of countless tech meet-ups, this event stood out as a haven for those eager to build businesses with physical products. As engineers, designers, and dreamers gathered, we felt a palpable sense of camaraderie – a shared vision to leave an indelible mark on the hardware startup ecosystem in the city that never sleeps.

Furthermore, the event offered valuable insights into the low-volume production space, unveiling the specific requirements of individuals involved in crafting bespoke products. Engaging with numerous engineers and product creators allowed us to gain a deep understanding of their unique needs. These conversations provided an opportunity for us to explore how our solution could effectively address the challenges and demands expressed by these professionals.

Women in 3D Printing Coffee Meetup @ MD&M: Empowering Stories, One Sip at a Time

In a serendipitous turn of events, we found ourselves at the Women in 3D Printing Coffee Meetup, celebrating women in 3D printing. Amidst the hum of conversations, the first 20 coffees were on Ami, the ambassador of Women in 3D Printing Los Angeles. We took the opportunity to connect with inspiring women leaders, recharge with complimentary coffee and share in delightful conversations that went beyond the confines of business.

In addition to engaging with professionals within the 3D printing domain, we had the privilege of conversing with accomplished women leaders from corporations that have embraced metal 3D printing for certain aspects of their production. An imperative revelation that surfaced during these discussions was the persistent challenge of mitigating the post-processing requirements for 3D printed parts, often overlooked in pricing and fabrication time estimations. Our dialogues extended to the metal fabrication sector of the market, enabling us to discern its specific needs and apprehensions regarding the adoption of metal 3D printing.

For us, each event has been a stepping stone, deepening our roots in the hardware startup ecosystem and expanding our geographical footprint. Want to meet up? Reach out to Alex at alex@3dktech.com.
